Driving through Daphne, Eleusis, we will arrive at the Corinth Canal where you will have the chance to visit the CANAL (50-meter high, 24-meter narrow, 6.343-meter long and 21 meters deep) or enjoy a traditional Greek coffee.Then we continue our tour arriving at Mycenae the legendary home of the Atreides that gave its name to Civilization, spread throughout the Greek world. We will visit the famous Tomb of King Agamemnon and the Lion’s Gate part of the cyclopean walls. After lunch we continue for a visit to Nafplion, a beautiful well-known town by the seaside, which was once the capital of Greece and later we will visit the Sanctuary of Asklepios or else known as the Theatre of Epidaurus, world famous for its acoustics. The ship departs at 8:15 am from the port of Piraeus near Athens where passengers are welcome by the professional multilingual tour leaders in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. At 9:30 am the vessel arrives in Aegina. At the reception desk passengers may obtain shore excursion tickets to the magnificent 5th century BC Classical Greek Temple of Afaea, rising above a breathtaking scenery of dark green pine trees and deep blue sea. The three temples of Afaea (Aegina), Parthenon (Acropolis) and Poseidon (Cape Sounion) form the famous 'Golden Mean Triangle'. Other options include a guided tour of the island and visit to the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Nektarios. A bustling fish market, floating fruit market and Aegina's pistachio nuts are other attractions awaiting visitors.
Next port of call the little island of Poros. Walk along winding streets, among rich pine forest and lemon trees to the top of a panoramic tower clock view of the Peloponnese. Alternatively you may wish to relax at a portside cafe and enjoy the scenery. And finally, Hydra. Enjoy one of the most cosmopolitan of Greek islands. Starting from Athens we drive westwards along the scenic coast, until we reach the Corinth Canal with its breathtaking views (short stop). Shortly thereafter we reach the ancient town of Corinth (visit) where St. Paul lived and preached for two years. Back in the ancient times Corinth was amongst the richest cities and this is quite evident by its remains, including the huge agora (market place) and Apollo’s Temple (6th C.B.C) brief stop at the site of the ancient port of Kechreai where St. Paul disembarked. Return to Athens in time for lunch. |
