Day 1. Marmaris - Kumlu Buku
The pretty town of Marmaris, where we welcome our guests on board, is a busy yachting centre with a splendid marina, castle, wonderful bazaar and restaurants and bars galore. It is one and half-hours by car from Dalaman International Airport. Guests are welcomed aboard Slypuss at midday and settle into their cabins followed by lunch in the cockpit under the shade of the bimini. Formalities are completed and we sail from Marmaris in the afternoon to Kumlu Buku for the evening, where guests can dine at a waterside restaurant amidst olive and palm trees at the foot of magnificent pineclad mountains.

Day 2. Kumlu Buku - Simi
We leave Marmaris Bay sailing westwards along the coast with a distant view of Rhodes island. Breakfast is served along the way as we enjoy the splendid scenery and exhilaration of the sea. Today we are visiting the Greek Island of Simi and stop for lunch in the pretty bay of Pethi. A swim and a snooze (that complimentary wine with lunch is so relaxing!) then on to Simi town. A sight to behold! Colour washed houses and churches clinging to the steep hillside ... tavernas and little shops on the water's edge ... Colourful fishing boats heaped with nets and pots. Simi was once a major sponge diving centre but the industry has now gone into decline although the museums relate to its former glory. During the day, ferries steam in and out of Simi bringing tourists from Rhodes but by late afternoon, all is quiet again. Magic.

Day 3. Simi - Dirsek
One last look at this lovely town then we weave our way through shallows and islands towards Datca which is back on the Turkish mainland on the northern side of the Gulf of Hisaronu. Datca is an attractive small town with an interesting array of shops selling carpets and jewellery. A lovely lady who has been a friend of the crew for many years is here in Datca - she has an excellent knowledge of Turkish carpets and also ... reads tea leaves. Can be a fun lunchtime stop! A brisk sail in the afternoon to the land locked bay of Dirsek with just one restaurant, a few goats, a few donkeys and a few tortoises! More magic!

Day 4. Dirsek - Keci Buku
We sail today towards the head of the Gulf of Hisaronu; more spectacular scenery, sheer cliffs dropping dramatically to the sea, deep inlets, islands galore, ruins of monasteries. We leave the barren mountains behind and once again see forests of pine as we enter Keci Buku (Goat Bay). We anchor near a steep sided island with a fortress balancing atop. It beckons the guests ... work up an appetite for lunch ... and the view is ... awesome. A quick trip round the island in the dinghy, a cooling swim after a climb followed by lunch aboard Slypuss. More wine? Just a little snooze then we move to the head of the bay and anchor off the village of Orhaniye. This is a farming community squeezed between mountains and the sea, the people are friendly and the scenery is ... awesome. It is also an ancient burial ground.

Day 5. Keci Buku - Bozburun
We sail back down the Gulf to the village of Bozburun. At this point, having mentioned the word "sail" so many times, we should add that Slypuss is very solid and weighs 21 tons. However, with just a little breeze, she sails beautifully and with a little more breeze she sails like a dream ... comfortably, not at an acute angle like so many yachts nowadays. We lunch amidst islands in turquoise waters, explore more antiquities nearby then later move into the harbour of Bozburun. It is a pleasant village with a few shops, a few restaurants and friendly people. A walk along the shore takes you to the boatyard where Turkish pine boats, gulets, are built. Back in the village, cattle, sheep and goats amble along the quayside - an endearing spot.

Day 6. Bozburun - Serce
Today we are heading east again, stopping in Bozuk Buku (ancient Lorymar) for lunch and a chance to climb up to the fortress with its splendid views towards Rhodes. The Romans assembled here before their invasion of Rhodes and the fortress is, in fact, Rhodian. A short sail for the evening to Serce Liman, perfect isolation in this large land locked bay with just two little restaurants and a few donkeys.

Day 7. Serce - Ekincik
An early start arriving in Ekincik which is east of Marmaris. After lunch, a fishing boat can take guests up the Dalyan River to ancient Caunos with its Lycian tombs, amphitheatre and antiquities galore. On return to Slypuss, relax under the sun awning then dine in a restaurant high above the bay with magnificent views and delicious Turkish cuisine.

Day 8. Ekincik - Marmaris
We return to Marmaris with heavy hearts. We exchange addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail and bid farewell. The end of another perfect week aboard Slypuss ... another week in Paradise.
